My life changed over 15 years ago when I read an article by Stormie Omartian. In it, she said she set the kitchen time for one hour every day to meet alone with God. Up to then, I struggled to have a 15-minute daily “quiet time” with God. I mean, as a Christian, a quiet time is something you’re supposed to do, right? So I knew one entire hour each day would be impossible…Or would it?
The challenge was on! I rearranged my schedule, grabbed the kitchen timer, and…WOW! For the first time in my life, I learned what it truly meant in Acts 3:20 to experience how “wonderful times of refreshment will come from the presence of the Lord.” (NLT) Day after day after glorious day!
My life has never been the same. Truly I have found the key to living the abundant life. You can, too!
So come with me and experience life as you never dreamed possible. Make it a priority to spent time alone with God…one hour each day!
Here are basic supplies I like to have during this time. You can gather the items you want to use. Keep them all in a basket next to your favorite chair or stuff them all in a totebag to suit your on-the-go lifestyle.
* Worship CD and iPod or CD player
* Prayer journal and pen
* Favorite devotional or inspirational, Scripture-based book
* and of course…a kitchen timer!
